Reminder: There is no parking on any street in Fredon Township between November 1st of each year through April 15th of the following year. Any violators will be subject to a fine up to $50 and up to 15 days in jail, or both. All commercial and residential buildings, established within the Township shall be subject to being numbered for proper identification, especially for reasons of expediency in fire, police and medical emergencies. If you have any questions, please call 973-383-7025 for further details. If you are planning to add a storage building or other accessory structure (e.g., a swimming pool or a satellite antenna), you may be interested to know the requirements of the zoning code in locating the structure on your residential property. If what you are planning to add either permanently or temporarily is located on the ground, a zoning permit is required and perhaps a building permit. Only unroofed patios and agricultural fences (under 5 ft. in height) are excluded from this definition of a structure. Any accessory
structure may only be located in the rear or side yard.
When planning,
be sure to keep clear of the water supply, gas lines and septic systems.

| In
1985, the State of New Jersey adopted a uniform fire code requires certain
businesses to register with the state. There are two categories for businesses,
life hazard uses and non-life hazard uses. Life Hazard uses include businesses
such as restaurants, hospitals, motels, schools, dance halls, factories,
day nurseries, etc. These businesses deal with the general public. Fredon
Township adopted an ordinance requiring all non-life hazard businesses
to be registered. These include: small retail stores, factories, professional
buildings, nurseries, horse boarding facilities, antique stores, etc. The
purpose of the ordinance is to save lives, not only yours but also the
fire fighters, emergency personnel, and the general public. Your registration
in this program will provide the fire department and other emergency personnel
with knowledge of your building and general layout. The fire official,
Joseph Inga, may be contacted at 973-383-7025. On resale of existing homes,
it is necessary to have a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector inspection
by the fire official.
Please make arrangement for the required inspections well in advance of your closing date. |
